Since 2008, June marks the celebration of Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller (GRT) History Month across the UK. This annual event serves as a platform for celebration, education, and raising awareness about the rich cultural heritage and contributions of GRT communities.

With this in mind, we are pleased to publish our first case study, in the series “50 Things to Do Before You’re Five: Promoting Community and Celebrating Diversity.” This one focuses specifically on the work being done in St Edmund’s Nursery School with the Roma community.

Our 50 Things to Do initiative is developed to promote an inclusive, non-judgmental way for parents to engage fully with their children, and is therefore easily adaptable to align with differing cultural values and traditions.

Juraj, a member of the Roma Community and the EU Migrant Support Worker for St Edmund’s has been integral in embedding the initiative. You can read more about his personal journey here (on pages 224/225)
